Exclusive Interview - Miss Shona
Welcome Miss Shona to Spill the Tea magazine! To start, when did you discover you wanted to do drag?
I was 18 when I started drag, in the UK, I was watching some amazing performers in my local Gay Bars and was amazed at the talent and the ability to play a character and thats when I discovered the love for drag and wanted to try it! Well 14 years later here I am haha!

You are part of the Music Hall Tavern family, what is MHT and how long have you been part of the show?
MHT Muisc Hall Tavern, is the award winning Comedy Drag Dinner Show Experience based in the Canary Islands, operating for over 25 years based in Lanzarote, Tenerife and Gran Canaria. Its a non offensive Family friendly show. MHT has around 500,000 visitors every year to the Canary Islands and then also run a sell out UK Theatre Tour as well as a new UK Roadshow. Also has performed at many Celebrity functions for Denise Welch, Loose Women and Cliff Richard.

For anyone who has never been to the show before how would you describe it?
MHT is all about the fun and old school camp drag with some glamour and sass in the mix too. With high production show values based on live vocals, dance, comedy mime and live stand up comedy as well as original parody material. The show is all about the magic of the evening making every guest feel part of it and enjoy the full night
How did the show cope during the pandemic without any tourist able to visit?
We like many artists had to adapt and find new ways to get to our fans and supporters, what we also had the extra stress was with no tourism the Canary Islands were literally closed, so we did do some local shows for residents different styles and themes and then we also did a weekly Facebook Live Chat Show with live links across the islands as well as some Celebrity Guests like Tom Dayley, Denise Welch and the Cheshire Housewives. Following from that we also did our own Virtual Live Shows on a live streaming platform which was a great experience.
Will the Canary Island shows be kicking off again next year?
The Canary Islands are now starting to open back up and MHT will be back very soon!!
MHT fans will be thrilled to find out that you are currently on a UK MHT Roadshow! What can fans expect from the show?
Yes its amazing to be back in the UK with the MHT UK Roadshow, this is us bringing the full MHT Canary Islands experience (minus the roast dinner) to some amazing wonderful towns and locations all across the UK, you can expect the full show like the Canary Islands and enjoy over again if you seen us before, or if you are new to MHT come and have a taster of what we do!
Shout out time! What one other Queen, King or queer performer deserves a shout out from you?
For me this is always a hard one because there are so many wonderful amazing queens out there, from a TV Personality for me its always the sharp tongue of Bianca Del Rio but I also always give a big shout out to Miss Marty, Miss Penny and Miss Trixie from Birmingham for all the support and help they gave me in the early days!
