RuPaul's Drag Race Holland - Episode 4 Review
Now before we jump into this there are spoilers below if you haven’t watched the episode yet. All the comments below are just my fun opinion, its a TV show don’t get upset if I didn’t like your favourite Queen!
Before we can even enter the werkroom to kick off the next challenge Miss Abby OMG is back at it with the drama. Now I can’t work out if she’s just that insecure in the competition that she’s just naturally fighting everyone, if she really thinks she is better than she is or she knows she might not be the strongest so is trying to cause drama for airtime. Either way girl its coming across really bad… just saying. I thought you had one of the hottest entrance looks and I was really excited to see what you would bring and now… meh
(By the time the queens get to the werkroom though the drama seems to have ended and Sedergine and Abby have made up).
A fresh day arrives and this weeks mini challenge is one of my favourites, the Reading Challenge!! Because…
Some of the Queens really had some good quick reads which really hit the mark. A personal favourite Ma’MaQueen saying she didn’t have a read for Madness as she thought she wouldn’t still be here… perfection. The winner was picked by guest judge Diva Mayday who rightly chose Ma’MaQueen , the other winner was Sedergine which made the team captains.
Teams picked and the Queens went for a voguing class with Amber Vineyard, watching the Queens learn was entertaining however I felt this main challenge felt like a mini challenge. It felt like it didn’t really matter and didn’t feel like a normal dance challenge at all. Before we could see the final performances and how the Queens did we hit the runway.
This week the category was ‘Shine Bright Like a Diamond’. As the Queens begin to get ready we got really sad as Madame Madness shaved off her beard!!! Her unique look, this actually really upset me as no one would tell Conchita to shave hers for Eurovision (I’m sure they did to be honest but she didn’t). No one would tell Bianca Del Rio to stop being funny, no one would tell Aquaria to stop bringing the looks, so why tell Madame to shave her beard. I don’t think it’s distracting at all and it’s what makes her, her. But it was a choice Madame made (and something happened later which really upset me further with the whole beard shaving). Runway walked, the Queens all took a very different route with two looking very similar, Janey Jacke and Miss Envy Peru were virtually identical but I still did like their own twist on the similar look. However, the winner for the best runway this week for me was…
MISS ENVY PERU! This look was so polished and we fell in love with it right away. For us the only problem with Janey Jackes was the wig… wasn't a fan sorry girl. Otherwise we might have given the award to you.
Then came the bit that really crushed me, as the judges gave they critiques one turned to Madame Madness and said she missed the beard… YOU ASKED HER TO SHAVE IT OFF! It really frustrated me, I know its good to try things but to change something so drastic in the middle of a competition is tough. Also its not like try a new makeup look or wig, I know facial hair can grow quick for others but not that quick.
Moving on before I start crying we get to see the Queens perform their final show, tbh I’m not sure if it was the edit but it was a mess. I couldn’t tell who was on what team and it seemed like on big group challenge not a dance battle.
Ma’MaQueen’s team were awarded the win but overall I think again Miss Envy stole the show.
Back to the runway the Queens are asked who should be in the bottom. I was obvious who was going to be picked and nearly everyone picked Madame Madness and Miss Abby OMG. Madame I agree for being poor in the challenge and Miss Abby OMG I agree for the outfit. They just aren’t there and are missing something the other Queens have, I just watch her walk down the runway so unbothered and unexcited.
Miss Abby OMG had a tantrum again of course over the Queens picking her but all the Queens are sent back to the werkroom before being called back to find out who is top or in the bottom.
Now usually I end my review here so I don’t give spoilers and I won’t be saying who goes home. BUT… I can’t end this before saying how the hell did Ma’MaQueen end up in the bottom!?!? Her drag look, yes could have done with a few improvements but it was by no means the worst and her team won the dance challenge. I was honestly as shocked as the other Queens when they picked her for the bottom.
